Training and Qualifications

“The greatest asset that an organisation has is the people that it employs.” - Welsh Government, 2009

NewLink Wales understands that every learner is unique and that our learners come from a variety of backgrounds, at different stages of their lives; each with individual fears, expectations, hopes, anxieties, personal circumstances and past learning experiences.

We embrace this ‘uniqueness’ to ensure learning becomes a positive and effective tool for building skills, knowledge, understanding and confidence to do work with individuals with substance misuse and related issues.

The training and qualification team have all been chosen due to their considerable expertise in the area of substance misuse and their ability to enthuse, motivate and inspire the individuals who they come into contact with throughout their roles as tutors and assessors.

Our courses contain workshops, half-day courses, full day and 2 days courses, some are accredited and some are non-accredited but all are driven by the needs of the different organisations and individuals who purchase them.
We have considered the workforce requirements and taken into consideration the frequently asked for courses and then developed new courses to bridge the gaps and we feel that we offer a comprehensive list of courses that can be adapted to suit your organisational needs.

Over the years we have been supporting the sector by forged partnerships with different Awarding Bodies to enable us to provide qualifications to up skill and demonstrate the competence of the workforce.
We are an established and well respected centre for both City and Guilds and the Institute for Leadership and Management (ILM), enabling us to offer a growing variety of qualifications to suit everybody within the sector, from service users, through to practitioners, volunteers and management.

We've revamped the training programme this year with a more integrated approach to learning and development so that the time and effort spent coming on training courses can also give you the building blocks for a qualification. All of our courses are mapped to National Occupational Standards, such as the ‘Health and Social Care’, ‘Skills for Justice’ and the ‘Knowledge, Skills Framework’ and of course the ‘Drug and Alcohol Occupational Standards’.
