What we’re doing

We’re doing our bit to help stop the spread of Coronavirus by following Public Health Wales’ guidelines for staying safe during the outbreak.

While we’re doing our best to maintain services and continue to provide support to the people who use them, this is an ever-changing situation and so we will be reviewing our policies on a frequent basis.

Our staff will be working from home wherever possible in order to keep themselves and the people we work with as safe as we can. Please remember that you can still contact us via e-mail and social media.

Are we working with you?

If you are getting support from one of our projects, or are attending upcoming training, things may be disrupted for a while, or the nature of how these projects work may change a bit. Here’s what’s happening with each service:

Training – we’ve had to cancel training courses until at least the end of June; for courses after that, if you’ve made a booking you’ll be contacted via e-mail if your course is affected.

MILE – if you were due to take part in the next MILE cohort, our project co-ordinator will be in touch with you via phone or e-mail. If you were in contact with us via your keyworker, they will have more information. If you’ve not heard anything, please contact [email protected] for more information.

VOLocity -  we’ve had to suspend all upcoming VOLocity training for the time being. If you were due to attend training, we’ll be in touch via e-mail.

NewSteps and Buzzin – we’ve had to suspend all NewSteps and Buzzin activities for the time being, but our project co-ordinator will be in touch with some ways we’re keeping some bits of these going online, and how you can be involved. you’ve not heard anything, please contact [email protected] for more information.

Keep an eye on this page, our social media and your e-mail; we’re always keen to look at new ways we may be able to deliver our projects, so this information may change.

Feeling anxious?

Here are some tips to help manage anxiety around Coronavirus.

Don’t spend too much time on the news

Choose one reliable source of news and try to avoid scrolling through numerous outlets. Many of us will want to keep up to date on how the situation is unfolding but do be mindful of what information is useful to you.

Connect with loved ones

Through calls, text, FaceTime, WhatsApp, voice notes – whatever works for you. Some of our staff are using WhatsApp groups and focusing on uplifting content such as favourite films, books and sending each other fun challenges.

Prioritise self-care

If you’re working from home or self-isolating, think about ways that you can start your day in a way that helps you to feel calm and ready for the day. This could be a 10 minute meditation, a shower, a phone call with a loved one, breath work techniques, EFT (emotional freedom technique) also known as tapping or even puppy videos on YouTube.

Create a routine

A routine can be really important for maintaining emotional and mental wellbeing. Think about a routine that works for you and your family and be sure to break the day up with self-care practices, meals away from screens and making sure you’re keeping in touch with anyone who may be vulnerable or lonely at this time.
