Course description: The aim of this course is to raise awareness around the misuse of heroin and the impact it can have on the individual and the wider community. Throughout the course we will look at challenging stigma and stereotyping to appropriately engage with users of the substance to reduce harm.

Course aimed at: This course is aimed at individuals with little or no knowledge of heroin misuse.

Learning outcomes:

  • Outline the different types of heroin and the methods of use
  • Identify signs of someone using the substance; highlighting key side effects commonly associated with the drug
  • Examine the injection process and explore harm reduction methods
  • Service provision in the area

Course duration:

9:30am – 4:30pm, 45mins for lunch
