The Facts

No-one wants to become dependent on drugs or alcohol and end up a chaotic or problematic drug or alcohol user.

But some people do - and they need our help and support.

The Organisation

NewLink Wales is here to recruit, train, and place potential volunteers with various agencies working with substance misusers. This could be with:

Street Drug Agencies
Homeless Projects
Rehabs
Youth Organisations
Housing Schemes
Alcohol Agencies
Criminal Justice Services
And many more

You will receive all the training and support necessary to become a volunteer in the field of substance misuse. We currently have many opportunities.

Many agencies are joining our organisation all the time, expanding the services in which volunteers can use their skills.

Accredited training is offered, and ongoing training courses are available to develop your skills and knowledge.

The Need

We need help with:
Drop-in centres
Youth work
Arrest-referral scheme
Needle exchange
Benefits/form-filling
Information/helpline work
Social activities
Education workshops
Buddying/befriending
Counselling
Supportive listening

What do we need from you?

- to give a certain number of hours per week/month
- to support, listen, care and be committed to anti-discriminatory principles
- to become part of a team supporting people in crisis through substance misuse agencies

In return we will provide:

- A comprehensive, accredited training programme
- Opportunities to learn new skills
- Travelling expenses met by the agencies
- Support, supervision
- And much, much more
