Course Specification
This course aims to bring a broad understanding about the different cultures and the impact that substance misuse has on these communities.
The course content includes the following:
- What is meant by the terms culture and religion
- Explore some of the most practiced cultures and religions
- Challenges faced by different communities
- Identify the impact that substance misuse has within different communities
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Summarise what is meant by ‘culture’ and ‘religion’
- Identify cultural and religious sensitivities
- Examine challenges faced by different communities
- Explore the effects of attitudes and beliefs
- Investigate the support available and how to overcome the barriers communities face in accessing services
