NVQ Level Three Health
& Social Care
This is a nationally recognised qualification which enables workers to
demonstrate their competence against a range of national occupational
standards. This award comprises eight units. Four of these are compulsory
and four can be chosen from a large number of optional units. Optional
units include those from the Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards
(DANOS).
The qualification is assessed using a range of methods. These might include
observation, statements from witnesses, work products, self reflective
accounts, written and verbal questions and professional discussions.
The assessment is planned between the candidate and the assessor and
assessment takes place in the workplace.
The candidates are registered with the awarding body, City and Guilds,
for three years. NewLink Wales usually contracts to assess the candidate
over the course of one year. Most candidates complete within a year and
many complete within about six months.
