Course Specification/Contents:
This course aims to explore recently hi-lighted national concerns about
the use of legal highs. It is aimed at participants working with both
young people and with adults. The course does not presume any previous
substance misuse knowledge. It will cover issues such as the effects,
risks, trends, market and treatment options.
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
1.Describe what is meant by the term ‘legal highs’ and list
the most commonly
misused substances
2. Identify the effects and risks of legal highs
3. Outline the role of the internet in the legal high market
4. Recognise the legal position and identify possible future changes
5. Consider harm reduction techniques and treatment options.
