Course Specification/Contents:
The course will raise cultural awareness of individuals supporting Black
and Minority Ethnic communities in relation to substance misuse. It will
look at some of the cultural barriers individuals from BME communities
face when assessing services and develop understanding of their needs.
By the end of the training participants will have:
1. A wider understanding of the cultural challenges faced
by communities.
2. A greater knowledge of cultural and religious sensitivities.
3. A wider depth of understanding of how to support communities in accessing
services.
Trainers:
Zunaira Hassan
Zunaira Hassan has worked with the Black and Minority Ethnic Communities
for seven years. She worked with the communities of Newport specifically
dealing with the identification of gaps/barriers within service provision
relating to health. Zunaira is NewLink Wales’ Development Officer
for BME Services.
