Course Specification/Contents:
This is a two day course focusing on crack and cocaine, appropriate treatment
and ways of working with this client group.
Aims and objectives of the course include:
1. To increase knowledge and awareness of the issues relating to crack
and cocaine use
2. To increase knowledge of how crack & cocaine are used and the
effects upon individuals’ physiology and neurology
3. To understand the possible effects on health
4. To understand how specific interventions at relevant stages can increase
engagement and retention
5. To increase confidence in working with this client group.
6. To increase competence in working with this group.
Trainer:
Tony D’Agostino
Tony D'Agostino was a lecturer in social psychology at Nottingham Trent
University and has an MSc in Research Methodology. He is also an accredited
practice teacher and was an assessor at South Bank University.
Tony has worked in the drug and alcohol field for 15 years, the past
7 of which have been at a senior level. During this time he set up and
managed a drug and alcohol service before becoming Director of Training
and Development at COCA. Tony has experience of working with decision
making bodies and enforcement agencies such as the Ministry of Justice,
NTA, Prison Service, Police, Probation, ACPO, DEA etc. At present he runs
his own training and consultancy business.
