Substance Misuse Awareness Level Two

Dates:

Target Group:

Level 2 – suitable for those who have completed the Basic Substance Misuse Awareness Level One course and people who have some knowledge of substance misuse already.

National Occupational Standards:

AA1, AB2, AB5, HSC226, HCS233, HSC330, HSC3111

Course Specification/Contents:

The content includes the following:

1. Information on the most commonly used drugs and their effects
2. Methods of drug use and harm minimisation
3. The cycle of change

Learning outcomes:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the effects and risks of commonly misused drugs
2. List the main methods of drug use and describe some harm reduction techniques
3. Describe the injection process, identify risks and explore harm minimisation methods
4. Identify the stages in the change process and explore appropriate interventions at
each stage.

A 10% discount will be given on course fees when booking forms are received six weeks before the course date. Unfortunately the 5% discount for members cannot be given on top of this.
