Course Specification/Contents:
This course is aimed at people with little knowledge of substance misuse. The content includes the following:
- The main categories of drugs and their effects
- Alcohol and its effects
- Patterns of drug use
- Methods of drug use
- Introduction to service provision
Learning outcomes: By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Describe the most commonly misused categories of substances
- List the effects of alcohol and the risks associated with alcohol misuse
- Describe patterns of substance misuse
- Discuss different types of service provision

Please note that the course running on the 11th & 12th November 2010 is free to workers based in Cardiff.
A 10% discount will be given when completed
booking forms are received 6 weeks before the course date. But the 5%
discount for member agencies cannot also be given.
