NewSteps
Service User Volunteer Programme
The NewSteps project is a learning support programme linking those still
receiving treatment with suitable volunteering placements not in substance
misuse but within the wider community. The project aims to provide service
users with the opportunity to positively make a difference to communities
via volunteering.
This will enable volunteers to move forward through learning and volunteering
which will build confidence, skills and knowledge.
What we can offer:

• Free training to enhance your skills and development
• Support and encouragement
• Match you to an appropriate buddy who will support you
• Education and qualifications
• A variety of placement agencies for you to volunteer
As a NewSteps volunteer, you will be linked with a
volunteer buddy/befriender who will support and encourage
you throughout your volunteering within your chosen
placement.
Volunteer Placements:
You will be placed in an agency of your choice from our
registered placements with NewLink Wales, such as -
• Conservation Schemes
• Environmental Projects
• Animal/Marine Centres and Working Farms
• Garden Centres
• Horticultural
• Skill Building
• Restoration Projects
• And many more
